THE recently concluded 1st Mayor Jerry P. Treñas Skateboarding competition was a banger and a success, held at the Iloilo Public Skatepark with Ilonggo skaters enjoying the limelight.
The event was full of smiles and positive vibes as it was a day to embrace and appreciate the tremendous talent our Ilonggo skaters possess.
Mayor Treñas graced and formally launched the event together with Executive Assistant for Sports Rudiver Jungco Sr.
Before the skaters flipped their tricks with their boards, Christopher Hurich and Kyle Biñas, the Ilonggo representatives in the Go for Gold Skateboarding Championship in Laguna last July, had a skateboarding showcase, performing their tricks and amazing audience.
The competition was divided into 2 categories, class A and class B.
Each skater was given a minute and a half to showcase their tricks and show their consistent run with their skateboard.
For class B, champion was Cezar Alamo, 1st runner up was John Ray Alipato, and the 2nd runner up was Jay-Ar Bacalla.
For class A, Kyle Biñas was hailed champion, Justin Alli placed 1st runner up and Marlo Villacarlos notched 2nd runner up.
The event also featured mini-games which included Highest Ollie, Best Rail, Best Ledge, and Longest Gap.
Miguel Cura bagged the Highest Ollie, Bobby Cura for Best Ledge, and Rheco Labusas both conquered the Best Rail and Longest Gap games.
Officials from the Philippine Sports Commission also came and showed their support to the Iloilo skateboarding scene.
The event was organized by BUREAU, with the assistance of Iloilo City Sports Development Division.
