1,900 Cops Deployed for Undas in Visayas

Around 1,900 police officers will be deployed across Western Visayas for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on November 1 and 2.

Brigadier General Jack Wanky, Western Visayas police chief, said, “It’s all systems go, as our security operations plan is already activated and implemented by our subordinate units regionwide.”

The 1,900 Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel will be stationed primarily in cemeteries, terminals, ports, and other areas of convergence.

Wanky stated that the deployment will be coordinated with local government units, other law enforcement agencies, and Advocacy Support Groups, who will assist in the operation.

Police Assistance Desks (PADs) will also be set up in key areas to ensure public safety and security.

The region’s police force is preparing for an influx of people in cemeteries, transport terminals, major thoroughfares, and other busy locations.

Wanky revealed that PRO-6 will deploy 42 drones across the region.

“Our drone squad will zone and cover the 350 cemeteries throughout the region. This will allow us to monitor incidents in real time,” Wanky said.

He also assured that enough personnel will be positioned in strategic locations to meet the region’s security needs.

Wanky reminded the public to avoid bringing liquor and deadly weapons when visiting cemeteries.
