BACOLOD City – A total of 183 passengers are stranded at the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. (Bredco) port here as of Thursday afternoon, apart from cargoes, after Typhoon Ulysses hit portions of Luzon.
Based on data from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Southern Visayas District, 133 passengers from Bacolod City, and 50 from Iloilo were supposed to travel to Manila.
Captain Eduardo De Luna Jr., PCG – Southern Visayas District commander, said the stranded passengers have been allowed to board M/V St. Therese of the Child Jesus instead of waiting at the terminal area.
The vessel will be allowed to sail once typhoon warning signals in Luzon are lifted, he added.
He said that 148 rolling cargoes bound for Manila were also held at the port due to unfavorable sea conditions.
All Coast Guard Southern Visayas District substations were advised to ensure strict implementation of guidelines on movement of vessels during heavy weather, and guidelines on vessels and motorboats in the absence of weather bulletin in the locality.
