182 cops, 65 PDLs undergo drug test

BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here subjected 182 police officers to mandatory drug test on Monday.

The policemen submitted their urine samples for the test at the Nocppo headquarters in Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr. in Barangay Estefania here.

Police Colonel Romeo Baleros, Nocppo director, said that this is the second drug test conducted for Nocppo personnel this year to ensure that 100% of them adhered to the order of the higher headquarters on internal cleansing.

The result is expected to be released 5-10 days after the test.

In January 2020, 86 personnel tested negative for illegal drug use. Also, a surprise inspection was conducted before the drug test.

Faded ball caps were confiscated, while personnel wearing worn out uniforms were reprimanded and were ordered to render hours of community service.

Meanwhile, 65 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) and nine personnel of the San Carlos City Jail tested negative for drug use during a random test yesterday.

The PDLs included 55 male inmates and 10 females, a press release said.

A greyhound operation was also conducted as part of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)’s commitment in achieving drug-cleared jail facilities and in line with the Oplan Linis Piitan program of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

No contrabands were seized during the inspection.
