An 18-year-old student reported to police authorities that a habal-habal driver tried to rape her on the evening of Oct. 5 in Tigbauan, Iloilo.
Alias Inday, a resident of Iloilo City, said she was supposed to attend an event in Guimbal town when the incident happened.
A habal-habal driver, whom she could describe only by his face, offered a ride and she agreed.
From Mohon Terminal in Arevalo, Iloilo City, they traveled to Guimbal.
But before they could even reach the area, the driver went into a secluded portion of Barangay San Rafael, Tigbauan.
Captain Alfred Mansoy, Tigbauan police chief, said the girl claimed the man verbalized his intentions against her.
The suspect also managed to caress her.
The victim said she shouted for help.
A couple passed by the area and heard the girl’s plea.
The couple then saw a man running from the area.
They tried to chase him but to no avail.
Mansoy said they are still investigating to identify the man who tried to molest the complainant.
