Representing President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin conferred the 27th Philippine Quality Awards (PQA) to 18 organizations at Malacañang on Sept. 5 for achieving the highest standards in quality and performance excellence.
The Philippine Heart Center received the PQA for Performance Excellence (Level 4), the highest recognition, for its exemplary performance as a national benchmark in healthcare.
Two institutions were awarded Mastery in Quality Management (Level 3) for demonstrating superior results through effective systems: Universidad de Zamboanga – Zamboanga Campus and the Philippine Science High School – Main Campus.
Ten organizations earned the Recognition for Proficiency in Quality Management (Level 2) for making significant progress in institutionalizing quality processes.
These include Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology; the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region III, Region IX, and the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development; the Department of Education – Schools Division Office of Tarlac Province; Isabela State University – Cauayan Campus; Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Manila Campus; Mountain Province State University; Nueva Vizcaya State University; and Lyceum of the Philippines University – Cavite.
Five organizations received the Recognition for Commitment to Quality Management (Level 1) for their serious commitment to continuous improvement.
These recipients were St. Mary’s University, Apayao State College, Camarines Norte State College – Main Campus, Central Mindanao University, and the DOST – Advanced Science and Technology Institute.
Trade Secretary Cristina Roque, also the PQA award manager, reaffirmed the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) dedication to fostering excellence among organizations of all sizes.
“At the Department of Trade and Industry, we believe that quality is a continuous journey,” Roque said.
“Through initiatives like the PQA, we remain steadfast in our mission to build a more robust, resilient, and competitive Philippines.”
The PQA recognizes organizations that meet or surpass global benchmarks in quality management, establishing them as models for others across sectors.
Applicants are evaluated across seven key criteria: leadership; strategy; customers; measurement, analysis, and knowledge management; workforce; operations; and results.
The rigorous four-stage selection process is led by the DTI’s Competitiveness and Innovation Group, with support from the Development Academy of the Philippines and the Philippine Society for Quality.
