Seventeen wanted individuals, including five listed as Most Wanted Persons (MWPs), were arrested in Western Visayas within a 24-hour period, according to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6).
The arrests were carried out between 6:00 a.m. on July 22 and 6:00 a.m. on July 23 during coordinated manhunt operations in various parts of the region.
According to PRO6, the five MWPs included three suspects at the provincial or city level and two at the station level. The remaining 12 were identified as Other Wanted Persons.
“These arrests show that PRO6 is serious in our pursuit of justice,” said PBGen Jose Fino D. Ligan, regional director of PRO6. “We are sending a clear message — no one is above the law.”
Ligan praised the efforts of PRO6’s operating units, noting the swift and effective implementation of their arrest strategies.
“We will not stop until all fugitives are held accountable. Our people deserve to live in a community free from the threats posed by those who try to evade justice,” he added.
The operation is part of PRO6’s ongoing campaign to strengthen law enforcement and reinforce public safety across Western Visayas, a region that includes the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to prioritize operations targeting wanted individuals as part of its broader anti-criminality and peacekeeping agenda.
Authorities are urging the public to report any information that could lead to the arrest of other fugitives, emphasizing the role of community support in sustaining peace and order.
