1,632 NIR cops deployed for National Heroes Day

BACOLOD CITY — The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) has deployed 1,632 police personnel to help communities across the region commemorate National Heroes Day safely, peacefully and orderly on Monday.
The deployment is part of the regional office’s strengthened security preparations.
Police will assist the public, manage traffic and respond promptly to any situation that may arise.
The deployment also includes 14 personnel from other units and 311 force multipliers to strengthen security in key areas where increased movement and public gatherings are expected.
Security measures include police visibility; fixed, mobile, motorcycle and foot patrols; traffic assistance; checkpoint operations; border control; civil disturbance management; a reactionary standby support force; and other law enforcement functions.
Personnel were positioned along major thoroughfares, at transportation hubs, in public places and memorial sites, and at other strategic locations to assist the public and help maintain peace and order.
The personnel will remain highly visible, vigilant, approachable and ready to respond.
Police Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, PRO-NIR director, assured the public that police would be ready and visible to help keep the region safe and peaceful.
He also urged the public to commemorate responsibly and cooperate with police personnel.
“As we honor the sacrifices of our national heroes, we will continue to uphold the same spirit of courage, dedication, and service in protecting our people,” he said.
National Heroes Day, observed on the last Monday of August under Republic Act No. 9492, falls on Aug. 31 this year and is listed as a regular holiday under Proclamation No. 1006.
