BACOLOD City – The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 reported on Thursday that a 16-year-old girl, who was allegedly a member of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) surrendered to the Army in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
She identified herself as a member under Squad 1, Central Negros 2 of the Southwest Front Committee Command that operates in the area of Himamaylan City in the province, according to PRO-6.
She narrated to the authorities that she was recruited together with her childhood friend on August 10, 2020.
When she was allowed to go home last month, her family reportedly encouraged her to surrender to the government.
When she decided to return to the folds of the law brought about by the difficult way of living in the mountains, they sought the help of the 94th Infantry Battalion.
The Army then turned her over to Kabankalan City Police Station for proper assessment and endorsement to the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) program.
The minor was referred to the Social Welfare and Development Office for debriefing and custody.
