For the nth time, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) reiterated that scalawags in uniform have no place in the organization.
Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, Western Visayas police chief, made the assertion, as he revealed that PRO-6 never stopped in hearing administrative cases against its personnel.
Since Pamuspusan assumed his post on June 2019 until April 2020, PRO-6 has resolved various administrative cases involving 190 police officers.
PRO-6 noted that some of the cases have been filed long before Pamuspusan assumed as PRO-6 chief.
“When I took over as PRO-6 director, one of my goals is to have a zero backlog on administrative cases,” he said.
Of the 190 police personnel charged administratively, 157 were penalized.
On the other hand, 20 were exonerated or their case dismissed while the charges against 13 others were forwarded to other offices for appropriate action – 12 to the Regional Internal Affairs Service (RIAS) and 1 to the Directorate for Investigation and Detection Management (DIDM).
Meanwhile, 31 of the 157 police officers penalized were dismissed from the service; 3 were demoted from their present ranks; 114 were meted with suspension; 5 were slapped with salary forfeiture; 4 were reprimanded.
Most of those who were charged or around 182 are police non-commissioned officers (PNCOs) while 8 were police commissioned officers.
Pamuspusan said that the immediate resolution of pending administrative cases is part of the PNP’s Internal Cleansing Program.
“This is to ensure that those who are victims of harassment cases be cleared while those guilty be penalized,” Pamuspusan said.
It’s also PRO-6’s way of telling its members that the police organization is determined and earnest in its campaign to get rid of erring personnel.
With the said development, “we will further be adding more teeth in our campaign against rogue personnel,” Pamuspusan said.
