A 15-year-old student and a motorcycle rider both died following a road crash in Sibunag, Guimaras, around 1:15 p.m. on May 6.
The deceased were identified as Jay-R, 15, and Glen Palencia, 50, both residents of Barangay Ravina, Sibunag, where the incident occurred.
According to police reports, Jay-R was at the roadside intending to cross the street when he was struck by Palencia’s motorcycle. The teenager was on his way to school at the time.
Jay-R sustained injuries to his left chest, left shoulder, and right leg. Palencia suffered an internal head injury.
Both were rushed to Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital for treatment.
Jay-R was declared dead on arrival at 1:20 p.m., while Palencia died 10 minutes later. Colonel Rhea Santos, Guimaras police chief, noted that Palencia was traveling at high speed at the time of the accident.
