14 stall owners affected by market fire get P30,000 aid

BACOLOD City – Stall owners of Bago City public market in Negros Occidental who were affected by the fire last Monday will each receive P30,000 financial aid.

This was revealed yesterday by Mayor Nicholas Yulo.

Yulo said that the city government, provincial government, and fourth District Representative Juliet Ferrer provided P10,000 each for the financial assistance.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has earlier reported that 14 stall owners were affected by the market fire which destroyed 13 stalls and damaged three others. Some of the owners had two stalls.

On Monday night, the city’s public market was razed by fire which reportedly broke out from the store of a certain “Bryan Baring.”

Yulo said he has not received the final report of the BFP regarding their investigation, but initially, according to arson investigators, the blaze was caused by overheat electrical wiring.

The BFP also initially reported an estimated P1.3 million worth of damage. But, the city government has yet to declare the final cost of damage.
