14 Repatriated Ilonggo OFWs Receive Cash Aid

Fourteen repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from Iloilo received PHP10,000 each in financial assistance from the Iloilo Provincial Government on Feb. 24.

The aid, provided under Provincial Ordinance 2020-245, supports repatriated OFWs who have faced hardships abroad, including maltreatment by employers, illness or accidents, and political unrest in their host countries.

Provincial Administrator Raul Banias distributed the financial aid on behalf of Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., who was out of town.

Public Employment Service Office (PESO) head Cynthia Dario and her staff joined the handover of assistance.

Beyond cash aid, the provincial government offers livelihood programs and zero-interest loans to help returning workers start businesses and reintegrate into their communities.

This follows a similar initiative on Jan. 30, when 15 other repatriated OFWs each received the same amount.

The provincial government assured repatriated OFWs of continued support as they rebuild their lives in the country.
