ROXAS CITY, Capiz – 14 cases of firecracker-related incidents were recorded in the province of Capiz.
Ayr Altavas, public information officer of Provincial Health Office (PHO), said that based on their monitoring from December 21, 2019 to January 1, 2020, 12 males and two females were injured during the revelry.
Three are from the town of Pontevedra and Tapaz, two from Dumarao and Roxas City, and one each in Panit-an, Dumalag, President Roxas and Sapian.
11 suffered burns while 3 suffered eye injury.
The firecrackers used by the victims were kwitis, boga, triangulo or libintador, whistle bomb, kamara and others that have yet to be identified.
Altavas stressed that 11 of the victims were active users or they themselves used the illegal firecrackers while three were passive or just passersby.
The 14 cases this year is 64.10 percent lower compared to 39 cases in the 2018-2019 revelry.
