BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) has arrested 137 violators of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) imposed gun ban from January 13 to May 10, 2013.
Based on a report from Nocppo, 106 cases were filed against the violators who were arrested in 123 police operations.
Police also confiscated 110 small firearms, one light weapon, 27 deadly weapons, 856 ammunition, and seven explosives.
The small firearms include 32 pistols, 47 revolvers, 22 shotguns, and 9 improvised firearms, including pin gun and gun replicas.
The provincial police continue to monitor persons with unlicensed firearms even if the gun ban ends on June 12.
