13 La Castellana barangays get brand new dump trucks

BACOLOD City – Thirteen (13) barangays of La Castellana in Negros Occidental received one dump truck each on top of brand-new rescue vehicles they also got from the administration of Mayor Alme Rhumyla Nicor Mangilimutan two months ago.

Mangilimutan led the turnover of vehicles on Dec. 16 to the 13 barangay captains which was also witnessed by members of the Sangguniang Bayan led by Vice Mayor Alberto Nicor Sr.

The turnover also coincided with the Christmas lights and decors switch-on ceremony at the Eco Leaf Garden in Brgy. Mansalanao, La Castellana.

The municipality of La Castellana also acquired a backhoe payloader in support of its solid waste management preparations including the purchase of 13 dump trucks and 13 rescue vehicles, with funding taken from its loan with the Land Bank of the Philippines, the mayor said.

Under Republic Act 9003, Mangilimutan said that the segregation of garbage is the responsibility of every barangay with the help of local government units.

Each dump truck costs P1,950,000.

The recipients of dump trucks and rescue vehicles are barangays of Cabacungan, Biak Na Bato, Talaptap, Sag ang, Cabagna an, Camandag, Lalagsan, Manghanoy, Mansalanao, Masulog, Nato, Puso and Robles, Sag-ang and Talaptap.

The municipality of La Castellana received its first loan of P175 million.

Mangilimutan also reported the ongoing bidding on the construction of the town sanitary landfill.

Other infrastructure projects being lined up for implementation by the administration of Mangilimutan also include the construction of a hotel, hospital, La Castellana college, as well as renovation and construction of public markets in the town proper and Brgy. Cabacungan, road network, and waters system.

She also said that Senator Sherwin Gatchalian assured funds for the construction of the municipal college.
