ROXAS CITY, Capiz – 13 fishermen from Roxas City were arrested Tuesday afternoon for alleged illegal fishing in the waters of Panay, Capiz.
The police identified the suspects as Eddie Candelario 48, captain of the fishing boat, and crew members Liberato Gavaje, 50; Rayman Albarez, 28; Jerry Anunial, 47; Joey Mangubat, 32; Rodelio Aguirre, 44; Janjan B. Lopez, 38; Albert Barlas, 42; Henry Navarro, 49; Nonoy D. Candelario, 32; Roger Villaruel, 27; Domingo Arevalo, 63; and Lito Candelario, 43, all residents of Barangay Culasi, Roxas City.
The Panay Municipal Bantay Dagat and the police confiscated their fishing boat “F/B Sugot Gyapun” and the fishing nets.
Also recovered from the suspects were 50 kilos of assorted fishes.
The suspects are detained at the Panay Municipal Police Station while charges for violations of Panay Municipal Ordinance No. 03-02 series of 2003 have been readied against them.
