BACOLOD CITY — No overseas Filipino workers from Negros Occidental currently based in Israel have expressed a desire to return home amid ongoing tensions, according to Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson.
Lacson said 121 OFWs from the province are in Israel, including 31 from Bacolod.
“So far, none of them have signified to come back,” he said.
He added that the OFW help desk at the Provincial Capitol is open and ready to assist those who may wish to return.
“We can see on national news that the national government is on top of the situation and ready to receive Filipinos who want to come back,” Lacson said.
The help desk, along with the Migrant Resource Center, is also monitoring developments in neighboring Jordan due to its proximity to Israel.
Each displaced worker is entitled to receive PHP5,000 in cash assistance from the provincial government.
