ILOILO CITY — Twelve municipalities in Iloilo province will compete in Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan 2027, up from eight contingents in the 2026 edition.
The contingents are Anilao’s Banaag: Halad kay Sta. Rita, Badiangan’s Pandayan Festival, Banate’s Kasag Festival, Barotac Viejo’s Patubas Festival, Bingawan’s Pagnahi-an Festival, Dueñas’ Anihan Festival, Estancia’s Panagat Festival, Leganes’ Saad Festival, Mina’s Maragtas Festival, San Joaquin’s Bayluhay Festival, San Rafael’s Tawili Festival, and Santa Barbara’s Kahilwayan Festival.
They will perform at five judging areas in Iloilo City: the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand, the Iloilo Provincial Capitol, Quezon-Ledesma streets, Mabini-De Leon streets, and Iznart Street.
The 2027 competition returns to these traditional performance areas after organizers used the Iloilo Sports Complex as a major venue in the previous staging.
The return follows concerns over traffic congestion, logistical challenges, security, and spectator accommodation.
Maasin’s Tultugan Festival will sit out the 2027 competition after earning grand slam and Hall of Fame honors.
The bamboo percussion-themed contingent won its third consecutive Kasadyahan championship on Jan. 24, 2026. Daily Guardian earlier reported that it was considering a bid to join the Dinagyang Festival Tribes Competition in 2027.
With Tultugan out, the 2027 edition will crown a different champion for the first time since 2023.
Dubbed the province’s premier “festival of festivals,” Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan is one of the major highlights of the Dinagyang celebrations.
The competition gives municipalities a stage to present their cultural heritage through performances rooted in local history, livelihood, and traditions.
In 2026, the Iloilo provincial government allocated PHP 1.2 million for the champion, PHP 700,000 for the first runner-up, and PHP 500,000 for the second runner-up.
Nonwinning contingents each received PHP 200,000 in consolation prizes, all sourced from provincial government funds.
