BACOLOD City – Twelve persons, including a minor were arrested by police for allegedly engaging in illegal cockfighting here and in Negros Occidental on Sunday.
In Sagay City, two persons were arrested in separate anti-gambling operations at Barangays Poblacion 1 and Himogaan Baybay, while two others managed to escape.
Police recovered from the two operations six wounded fighting cocks, three gaffs, and P700 bet money.
In Silay City, a 42-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were also arrested for the same offense at Barangay E. Lopez.
Authorities confiscated a live and a dead fighting cock and P500 bet money.
The minor was turned over to the Youth Center.
Eight others were also arrested by personnel of Police Station 1 at Barangay 13 here.
Police recovered from them six live and two dead fighting cocks, and P1,670 bet money.
