BACOLOD City – Authorities rescued 15 individuals, including six children after a pumpboat partially submerged in a sea at the boundary of Barangays Old Sagay and Taba-ao, Sagay City, Negros Occidental Friday afternoon.
Police Major Antonio Benitez, city police chief, said the boat was moving towards Suyac island when big waves hit the motorized vessel around 2 p.m.
The boat captain called for assistance from the Philippine Coast Guard to rescue them. Some fishermen also helped them.
All of them were wearing safety gears when it happened, Benitez said.
Benitez said the passengers, most of them from Murcia town, were supposed to visit their relatives in the island.
They all survived and were unharmed.
