11 loose firearms surrendered to Sapian police

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Eleven loose firearms were voluntarily surrendered to the Sapian Municipal Police Station on Monday morning, Sept. 14.
The unlicensed firearms included 10 handguns and one long firearm.
The firearms were turned over to the police station headed by Police Lt. Steve Ian Bautista, officer in charge of the Sapian Municipal Police Station.
Information from the Sapian police showed that the voluntary surrender of the firearms was made possible through the active cooperation and initiative of village officials, particularly the punong barangays.
The surrender was also in support of Project RTT 3389 of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) and Project CAPeace-Tawhayan of the Capiz Police Provincial Office.
CAPeace-Tawhayan, launched by the Capiz police in July, includes a program encouraging the voluntary surrender of loose firearms as part of broader peace-and-order efforts.
The initiatives aim to maintain peace and order in communities and promote public safety through the proper disposition of loose firearms.
Bautista thanked village officials for their support and dedication to promoting peace.
