ROXAS CITY, Capiz— Eleven persons were arrested Thursday for alleged illegal fishing in Pilar Bay in Pilar, Capiz.
The town’s Bantay Dagat seized three illegal fishing boats and apprehended crewmembers Edwin Cambal, 36, of Brgy. Casanayan, Pilar, Capiz; Jose Ordilla and Rojo, both of Batad, Iloilo; Jerry Cabales, 40, of Tanza, Cavite; Hardy Barana, 33, also of Batad, Iloilo.
Also arrested were Rey Libiano, 43, Noel Tupaz, 43, Jonel Puno, 23, Johan Sulueta, 41, Aly Dela Cruz, 45, Dondon Decuña, 26, and Philip Burgos, 21, all residents of Carles, Iloilo.
The suspects and the motorbancas are in the custody of Pilar Municipal Police Station. They were held for violation of Municipal Ordinance Number 01, Series of 1999.
According to Pilar PNP, the suspects were arrested while Bantay Dagat-Pilar led by Ernesto Cuñada and PSSg. Danilo Placer was conducting seaborne patrol.
