BACOLOD CITY — A 10-year-old boy drowned in a river in Barangay 1, Isabela, Negros Occidental, on Saturday afternoon.
Police withheld the victim’s name but confirmed he was a resident of Barangay 4 in the same municipality.
According to police, the victim and two minor friends went swimming in the river around 5 p.m.
The boy reportedly wandered into a deep portion of the river and drowned, prompting his friends to call for help.
Before rescuers arrived, a nearby resident helped bring the victim to the riverbank.
He was later taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
