1 Killed, 3 Injured in SUV Accident

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – One person was killed, and three others were injured after an SUV overshot a road early Sunday morning, Dec. 1, in Sitio Buta, Barangay Jolongajog, Pontevedra, Capiz.
According to an investigation by the Pontevedra Police, the vehicle was traveling from President Roxas town to Panay around 3:50 a.m. when the driver attempted to avoid stagnant water on the road. This caused the driver to lose control, and the SUV veered to the left, hitting an electric post owned by the Capiz Electric Cooperative.
The Special Rescue Force of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Pontevedra and the Pontevedra Emergency Response Team immediately responded, taking the victims to Bailan District Hospital.
A 36-year-old woman from Barangay Anhawon, Panay town, who was seated in the front, was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
The 23-year-old driver from Barangay Cabugao Este, also in Panay, and two backseat passengers sustained injuries and remain confined at the hospital.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
