₱160-M Sports Facilities to rise for Aklanons
Infrastructure developments to advance sports and youth development are underway as facilities for sports and tourism events in Aklan as Uswag Ilonggo Partylist Cong. Jojo Ang led today’s groundbreaking and capsule-laying ceremonies for the 80-M Aklan Provincial Sports Complex in Makato and ABL Rehabilitation in Kalibo.
As these initiatives aim to foster talent among young Aklanon athletes and boost the province’s tourism appeal, the provincial sports complex facility will feature a rubberized track oval and a grandstand, providing a state-of-the-art venue for local athletes. In addition, the project for the rehabilitation and improvement of the Kalibo ABL Sports Complex in Kalibo, Aklan, will make the venue fully-airconditioned and equipped to host events.
“These projects are a testament to our commitment to supporting Aklan’s tourism and serving as a training ground for our talented athletes,” said Ang during the ceremony.
The Aklan Provincial Sports Complex is expected to become a key venue for hosting local and regional sports events. Its modern facilities will provide athletes with a world-class training environment, contributing to the development of sports in the province.
Meanwhile, the Kalibo ABL Sports Complex’s rehabilitation is anticipated to strengthen its role as a hub for community events, sports tournaments, and recreational activities.
Joining the event were Aklan Governor Joen Miraflores and Maria Lourdes “Lulu” Miraflores, nominee of Uswag Ilonggo Party-list, alongside representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Together, they reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing public service through collaborative efforts.
The construction and rehabilitation of these facilities are expected to generate employment and boost economic activity, further enhancing the province of Aklan as a prime destination for sports and tourism.
With these initiatives, local officials and partners aim to empower the next generation of Aklanon athletes while promoting the province as a competitive venue for large-scale sports and cultural events.
