Zambales-based ‘NPA member’ nabbed in Capiz

An alleged member of the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested morning of Sept 19, 2022, in Pontevedra, Capiz.

Carina Oliveros, 38, who also goes by the names of Ida, Merlyn, Tintin, was collared at her house at Sitio Sto. Rosario, Barangay Lantangan, Pontevedra.

Oliveros is a medical political guide of the 1st Platoon Bataan-Zambales, Provincial Party Committee Central Luzon Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army (CPP-NPA).

The arrest was carried out by members of the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station, Capiz Police Provincial Office-Provincial Intelligence Unit (CPPO-PIU), Regional Intelligence Division 6 (RID-6), 105th Mobile Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 1 (RFMB-1), 1st Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company, Capiz Maritime Police Station, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Capiz, Capiz PPO tracker team, and RID-3.

Oliveros was collared by virtue of an arrest warrant for murder docketed under Criminal Case No. 13-219.

Judge Jose Valle of the Regional Trial Court 6 (RTC-6) Branch 68, Camiling Tarlac issued the arrest warrant on Dec. 3, 2013.

No bail was recommended for her temporary liberty.

Last week, three NPA members operating in Mindanao were also arrested in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo.

They were a leader and members of the Southern Mindanao Regional Party Committee (SMRC).

Brigadier General Leo Francisco, Western Visayas police chief, said they’re still investigating the reasons why these rebels opted to hide in Iloilo.

“Sabi nila nagbabakasyon lang daw,”‘he said.

Francisco said they’re not also discounting the possibility that they have established connections in the area.

“But everything is subject to investigation,” he said.
