Youth leader in shooting incident had ‘prior police records’

The Aug 13, 2022 shooting episode was not the first incident that involved youth leader Mikhail Khalil Tadifa.

Tadifa, Sangguniang Kabataan federation president of San Miguel town in Iloilo, also figured in another shooting incident in August 2020 where he allegedly shot a barangay captain but missed.

Major Sullen Domingo, San Miguel police chief, said no case was filed against Tadifa following an amicable settlement.

A year before that, he was arrested in a police anti-illegal gambling operation also in San Miguel town.

He was one of the 11 persons nabbed for playing cara y cruz, or locally known as tumbo, at a funeral wake on July 8, 2019.

Domingo said the trial is still ongoing.

Tadifa remains at large for shooting a man after their heated exchange over a Facebook post.

The 24-year-old suspect, a resident of Barangay 11, San Miguel, allegedly shot Dyezrelle Malaygay around 10:55 p.m. of August 13.

Tadifa allegedly stormed Malaygay’s house at Barangay San Jose, San Miguel and shot him.

Luckily, the victim only suffered a graze wound on his temple.

Tadifa immediately fled after the incident while the victim was rushed to Iloilo Mission Hospital.

A case for frustrated murder will be filed against Tadifa.
