A woman died of drowning during a family outing in a resort in Concepcion, Iloilo over the weekend.
It was believed that the victim, 45-year-old Aileen Timban, was drunk when she dipped in the waters of Iyang Beach Resort at Barangay Poblacion, Concepcion.
Timban was a resident of Barangay Velasco, Lemery, Iloilo but has been staying at her sibling’s house at Barangay Bacjawan Sur, Concepcion for about a month already.
Senior Master Sergeant Edzel Ray Casia, Concepcion police investigator, said relatives saw Timban went for a swim after consuming whisky.
In just a matter of minutes, it was believed that she might have drowned.
“The family members thought that she was just swimming and did not notice that she was already struggling,” Casia said
They still applied first aid before emergency responders took her to Sara District Hospital where she was declared dead.
