Woman dies while trying to save pets from burning house

BACOLOD City – A woman who tried to save her dogs died after she was trapped inside their burning house at Lomboy Street, Capitol Heights Phase 1, Barangay Villamonte here yesterday.

Chief Inspector Publio Ploteña, city fire marshal, identified the fatality as Michelle Mirasol, 36.

Ploteña said that there were four persons inside the house when the fire broke out around 6:17 a.m. Thursday.

Mirasol, her child, and her parents immediately went out of the house, but the victim reportedly went back inside their home to rescue her pets, but she failed to go out, Ploteña said.

She was later found inside their bathroom. She died of suffocation, Ploteña said.

He said that the initial cause of fire was electrical in nature.

The blaze gobbled an estimated P100,000 worth of properties. The fire was quelled after 30 minutes.
