ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Provincial Social Welfare and Development(PSWD) is planning to release financial assistance “within a day” for the convenience of its clients.

Gov. Fredenil Castro has asked PSWDO head Nieva Camposano to hasten the release of financial aid so that poor constituents would not wait long.

Castro cited the case of a man who attempted suicide together with his 8-year-old son by jumping in the Panay River last week.

The depressed father and his child were saved by some concerned citizens.

Traffic auxiliary Vincent Dela Cruz said they were saved from jumping off the Capiz Bridge.

According to the father, who asked not to be named, he was dismayed after the P1,500 financial assistance he asked for from the Capiz provincial capitol for a month now has not been released.

He was also disappointed after learning that his friend received his financial assistance from the provincial government after a few days of processing.

The father said that he did not know what to do because of the numerous problems he was facing, particularly with his finances. This prompted him to mull suicide which he later realized was not a solution to his woes.

The father calmed down after some traffic enforcers and police officers came and helped him by giving him advice.

The man promised not to attempt suicide again.
