Winners of Police Skills Olympics honored

THE much-awaited results of the 1st Police Skills Olympics were formally announced during the closing program held at the Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO) Multi-Purpose Hall on July 29, 2019.

Pastor Rick Martin, Director of Iloilo Baptist Church, was the Guest of Honor Speaker during the simple awarding ceremony.

Miss Cherry Palma of ABS-CBN Iloilo was also present to hand out the trophies together with Police Lieutenant Colonel Ruby Gumban, Deputy Provincial Director for Administration; Police Lieutenant Colonel Bonifacio Ancajas, Deputy Provincial Director for Operation; and Police Captain Antonio Monreal Jr, Chief of Provincial Learning and Doctrine Development Section.

The team composed of municipal police stations (MPS) from 3rd and 4th Districts emerged as Champion after dominating 4 out of 6 events – Disaster Response Drill, Disarming/Handcuffing Techniques, Checkpoint Operation, and Assembly/Disassembly of Firearms Categories.

Meanwhile, the team from the 1st and 2nd Districts, who won the Spot Report Writing Category, was declared 1st Runner-Up.

Team IPPO Headquarters and 1st Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company (IPMFC), who won the News Release Writing and Media Interview Category, were 2nd Runner-Up.

Team of 5th District MPS and 2nd IPMFC also made good showing in the Olympics.

The competition enabled PNP personnel to enhance their skills and basic knowledge on Police Operational Procedures.
