BACOLOD City – Commission on Elections (Comelec) Provincial Supervisor Atty. Roberto Salazar said Tuesday that 1.3 million of the 1.6 million registered voters in Negros Occidental cast their votes or an 83 percent turnout.

Salazar said the number is based on data gathered from the certificates of canvass generated by Comelec’s Consolidation and Canvassing System (CCS).

Salazar said he is still waiting for a report from the ground, or the report on how many voted on May 9, 2022.

He added that they could not determine yet if the turnout increased or decreased compared to the last presidential elections in 2016, although he pointed out voter turnout is usually higher during presidential elections.

Salazar also urged all the candidates to submit their respective Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE).
