A motorcycle crash late evening of Sept 11, 2020 ended the life of a village official of Ajuy, Iloilo.

Residents of Barangay Bay-ang, Ajuy Iloilo are now mourning the death of their barangay captain, 46-year-old Eugene Tupas.

According to police reports, Tupas was passing by Barangay Malayu-an when the mishap happened around 10:40 pm Friday after he lost control of his motorcycle.

Police Captain Roy Castro, Ajuy police chief, said no one saw what happened to Tupas.

They only received a phone call that a person was slumped in the middle of the road at Malayu-an village, with his motorcycle a few meters away from him.

“There was a resident who claimed to have heard a thud then a subsequent wailing of a dog. That’s why some people presumed that he could have sideswiped a dog,” he said.

Investigators saw a skid mark on the road while the motorcycle did not incur any major damage except for scratches on the right steering handle.

The victim was also not wearing a crash helmet when the incident happened.

He was taken to Barotac Viejo District Hospital where he was proclaimed dead.

Tupas allegedly came from Mangorocoro village when the incident happened.
