Vilela ends stint as Iloilo police chief

Police Colonel Roland Vilela on Sunday confirmed that he will end his stint as Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) after more than five months.

A turnover of command ceremony will be held between Vilela and IPPO officer-in-charge, Police Colonel Paul Kenneth Lucas, on Wednesday.

But Lucas, the current PRO-6 Regional Comptrollership Division chief, is reportedly poised to replace Colonel Romeo Baleros, the chief of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO), who will retire next month.

Last week, the leadership of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 said it is scouting for Vilela’s successor.

Vilela will leave for the United States in April 2020 where he will serve as a police attaché for three years.

Aside from Lucas, PRO-6 is also considering newly-promoted Police Colonel Pablito Asmod, the PRO-6 Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD) chief, for the top IPPO post.
