After a piece of disheartening news that superstar striker Alyssa Valdez will not play due to an ankle injury, the whole nation collectively breathed a sigh of relief as she announced her return and availability for the national team.

Past reports said that Valdez will not be able to play for at least two months due to an ankle injury that she suffered during practice, causing the national team to scramble in search of a replacement as dynamic and explosive as “The Phenom.”

Everybody was shocked when they saw Valdez in a national team jersey during the second leg of the ASEAN Grand Prix held in Laguna, and she did not only wear the jersey for support, she was in gear and was ready to play.

Valdez top-scored the PH squad against Vietnam, chipping in 14 big points and also delivering the win for the team.

“I’m really happy na, hopefully nakapag-contribute din ako sa best of my ability din,” Valdez said after the game.

Being cleared for action, Valdez will now join the Philippine national volleyball squad’s practices.
