Uprooted tree damages house, couple hurt

BACOLOD City – A couple suffered minor injuries after an uprooted mango tree fell on their house due to strong winds at Barangay Paloma, Valladolid, Negros Occidental on August 8, 2019.

Mark Cabrillos, a staffer of the Municipality Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (Mdrrmo), said the couple was inside their house when strong winds believed to be from a tornado hit the village around 2 p.m.

“They were able to crawl to get out from the house, which was damaged,” he added

Rescuers cut down the uprooted mango tree to clear the area.

Cabrillos said the municipal government is already processing the assistance to the affected household.

Meanwhile, he also said that two trees fell on the streets of Barangays Poblacion and La Caron but no injuries were reported and rescuers immediately conducted clearing operation.
