Upgraded road offers convenient, safer travel to southern Negros Occ

Traveling to various areas in southern Negros Occidental, specifically along Binalbagan-Isabela Road, is now safer and more convenient with the improvement of the road from concrete to asphalt by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Implemented by DPWH-Negros Occidental 2nd District Engineering Office, the project involves the asphalt overlaying of the 1.1-kilometer portion of the existing 2-lane concrete road in the towns of Binalbagan and Isabela to the tune of ₱11.52 million.

DPWH 6 Regional Director Nerie D. Bueno said the improved road offers better transport access to schools, health centers, government centers and other government and private institutions in southern Negros Occidental as well as to government facilities in the area.

“The asphalt road will provide motorists with a smoother driving experience and reduce the maintenance cost of vehicles. This will likewise facilitate faster transport of people and products considering that this road traverses along farmlands and crop-producing areas,” Regional Director Nerie D. Bueno said.

“The asphalt road also enhances the surface ability of the road to handle heavy traffic and will improve the riding quality and noise while traveling and ensure a smoother flow of traffic,” Director Bueno added.

Bueno said that the provision of reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings and solar studs will ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians and residents along the road, especially at night.

“The pavement markings which are visible at night will guide our motorists to stay on their lanes, and will provide warning among our pedestrians not to go within the lane markings to avoid untoward incidents,” RD Bueno stressed. (DPWH-6)
