The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) is finally nearing its resumption after suspending games due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After almost a year-and-a-half, one of the country’s premier collegiate sports league will be eyeing its return this February 2022.

UAAP league executive director Atty. Rebo Saguisag confirmed that they are already planning to stage the “UAAP Bubble” in the upcoming Season 84.

“We’re really looking at February 2022, most probably looking at bubble scenario. To manage the expectations of the fans, baka sa TV lang tayo but I guess like sa Olympics, at least natuloy and the world still had a good time,” shared Atty. Saguisag.

However, final plans weren’t presented by Atty. Saguisag as they are still assessing the conditions to be brought by the ongoing pandemic.

With the other COVID-19 variants slowly entering the Philippines, the UAAP is prioritizing the health of the players as they are still students first.

Saguisag is still hopeful that the UAAP’s initial proposal will receive the green light next year especially with the progress of the COVID-19 vaccination in the country.

“Hopefully, we have a full season for all events but again, conditions permitting tingnan natin we also have to adjust to different scenarios,” added Atty. Saguisag.
