Two vessels figure in maritime accident

BACOLOD City – A roll-on roll-off (Roro) vessel allegedly hit an oil tanker at the port of Amlan in Negros Oriental last Tuesday.

Based on the report from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), LCT BATO TWIN I was maneuvering when it hit MT PETRO HELEN due to strong winds and huge waves.

The port side railings of the Roro vessel were damaged, while the “bow” of the oil tanker had scratches. No injuries were reported in the maritime accident.

The PCG also assured that the incident did not cause any oil spill.

Coast Guard personnel assisted the captains of both vessels to resolve the incident.
