BACOLOD City – A man and his nephew were killed, while another was wounded in a collision between a sedan and a truck at Purok Malipayon, Barangay Atipuluan, Bago City, Negros Occidental last Saturday.

Staff Master Sergeant Jeffrey Montinola, traffic investigator of Bago City Police Station, identified the fatalities as Ralph Estrevillo of Barangay Taculing here; and his 11-year-old nephew, whose name was withheld.

Wounded was Estrevillo’s 13-year-old daughter.

Montinola said that Estrevillo was driving a sedan on their way home from La Carlota City, when he reportedly hit the left side of a prime mover truck traveling to a transloading station while approaching a curved part of the road.

“Tungod sa impact, nag atras ang sedan kag sa lain na nga direction nag pundo,” he added.

Montinola said that Estrevillo was stuck on the driver’s seat, while his nephew and daughter were rescued immediately.

It took about an hour for rescuers to remove Estrevillo from the car due to the damage on the vehicle, the traffic investigator added.

Montinola said that Estrevillo was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, while his nephew passed away later that night.

Estrevillo’s daughter suffered minor injuries.

Montinola said both parties were scheduled to meet today, March 14.

Meanwhile, the 55-year old truck driver is detained at the police station.
