ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Two persons were arrested in separate drug bust operations conducted by police Wednesday afternoon in Pontevedra and Panay towns.
Melvin Blancaflor, 48, farmer of Brgy. San Jose here was arrested Wednesday night at Brgy. Soblangon, Pontevedra.
Personnel of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and Pontevedra PNP recovered from Blancaflor four sachets of suspected shabu and P500 marked money. They also confiscated his cellphone and motorcycle.
In an interview, the suspect admitted to using drugs and was also a drug surrenderer in their barangay.
But he denied selling drugs saying he only accompanied a friend who gave him a share from their sales.
Meanwhile, the Panay Municipal Police Station and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) arrested Alberto Asis Jr. of Brgy. Tiza here in another drug bust at Barangay Tanza Norte, Panay.
Recovered from the suspect were nine sachets of suspected shabu, P500 marked money and a cellphone.
The two are detained at Pontevedra and Panay police stations while the recovered illegal items were brought to PNP Crime Laboratory for examination.
Charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them.
