Two persons who were allegedly into the online trade of dried marijuana leaves were arrested in a police anti-narcotics operation afternoon of August 23, 2021 in Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan.

The suspects were identified as Kenjie Miguel of Zone 5, Barangay Balabag, Boracay and Johnbert Arabit, 20, of Zone 5, Barangay Manoc-Manoc, Boracay Island.

They were collared around 3: 45 p.m. Monday in a buy-bust operation at the beachfront of Asya Premier in Sitio Cagban, Manoc-Manoc village.

The duo allegedly sold dried marijuana leaves to a police undercover agent for P1,000.

Confiscated from their possession were four small plastic sachets and two plastic bags of suspected marijuana weighing around 50 grams and the P1,000 marked money.

Lieutenant Colonel Don Dicksie de Dios, Malay police chief, said that the duo’s arrest led police to bust an illegal drug ring involved in the online selling and delivery of marijuana.

Police arrested Miguel and Arabit following a two-month surveillance, validation and actual operation.

Investigation showed that the two suspects, who are not on Malay PNP’s drug watchlist, are both transient visitors of the island and ply their trade via online and text transactions.

Selling and delivery were made via J&T Express Padala.

“Patuloy ang ating mga operasyon laban sa iligal na droga sa kabila ng hamon na dala ng pandemya at pagpapatupad ng MECQ sa buong isla ng Boracay,” de Dios said.

The two suspects are detained and would be charge for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
