Two nabbed for ‘illegal drug peddling’

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Two persons tagged in the illegal drug trade were nabbed in separate operations Thursday morning, Dec. 16, in Pontevedra, Capiz.

Patrick Denaga, 32, of Panitan town but temporarily residing in Brgy. Rizal, Pontevedra was collared in a drug buy-bust at Barangay Tacas, Pontevedra.

Recovered from Denaga were four sachets of suspected shabu, P3,500 marked money, a cellphone and 1 unit motorcycle.

The Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of Capiz Police Provincial Office, Pilar PNP, President Roxas MPS and Pontevedra PNP conducted the operation.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against Denaga.

Meanwhile, the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station arrested a 39-year-old person wanted for alleged illegal drug pushing around 1:15 pm on Dec. 15 in Brgy. Rizal.

Police Major Syril Punzalan, Pontevedra PNP chief, identified the suspect as Leory Balgos of Rizal village.

Balgos is wanted for violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Judge Esperanza Kristine Tiangco-Vinculado of the Roxas City Regional Trial Court Branch 16 issued the arrest warrant on August 21, 2021.

Balgos is presently detained at the Pontevedra PNP.
