SAN JOSE, Antique – Two more fire stations of the Bureau of Fire Protection are set to be constructed in Antique, particularly in Belison and Sibalom towns.
BFP-Antique Information Officer FO3 Vilmarie Pagunsan, in a press release, said that the groundbreaking ceremony was recently held in the respective towns attended by BFP 6 Regional Director Superintendent Jerry D. Candido.
“Antique is fortunate from other provinces in Panay because you have 10 BFP typical fire stations,” said Candido during the program.
He added that the fire station is not just important but a necessity, noting that with this new structure, the BFP is gaining the trust of the public completely.
Each fire station costs P7.3 million. The facility will include a garage for two firetrucks, office space, office of the Municipal Fire Marshal, quarters for male and female, comfort rooms, and supply room.
Candido also thanked local officials of the said municipalities for donating the lot where the fire station will be constructed.
Sibalom Vice Mayor Zoilo Bernardo Tubianosa highlighted during the program that BFP will no longer squat in the office they are in now but will have their own permanent space to carry out their functions in the next few months.
Likewise, Sibalom mayor Carlo Gian Occeña said that he will try to ask of the allocation of new firetruck since the current firetruck served a decade already.
On his part, Belison mayor Christopher Piccio cited the leadership of former Mayor Darrel Dela Flor for donating the lot in which under his term the construction of the fire station will be materialized.
With the new fire station in Sibalom and Belison towns, BFP will have 10 prototype fire stations located in Tobias Fornier, San Remigio, Dalipe San Jose, Tibiao Hamtic, Sebaste, Patnongon and San Jose Main, in which some are still under construction. (PIA)
