BACOLOD City – A senior citizen and his neighbor were wounded after the latter’s house was destroyed by fire at Purok Matinumanon, Barangay Felisa here Tuesday night.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Bacolod identified the victims as Sunny Soriano, 62, and Jordan Buga, 39.

Chief Inspector Rodel Legaspi, city fire marshal, said the blaze broke out from the house of Buga around 7:45 p.m.

Legaspi said that Soriano saw the fusion box sparking before the fire occurred.

Buga went to Soriano’s house to check the fusion box, as the power line is connected to their houses.

Soriano tried to switch it off, but he was hit by sparks from the fusion box, and Buga’s house already caught fire, Legaspi said.

Soriano suffered minor burns on his right arm, while Buga had minor burns on his left hand.

Prior to the incident, Legaspi said that Buga noticed that their power line was fluctuating.

Fire out was declared at 8:18 p.m.
