ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Two persons surfaced and claimed that they were victims of a foreign exchange (Forex) investment scheme or FIS.
Karen Apuang, 40, of Brgy. Bato Panay, Capiz complained to Roxas City police station that Lourdes Baarde of Brgy. Baybay here invited her to invest in FIS with the promise of a 25 percent interest.
Apuang said Baarde issued two checks for P436,000 with encashment date on December 10, 2018 and another check for P250,000 which was supposed to be encashed on Jan 25, 2019.
But when she was about to encash the two checks, the bank declined as the account was already closed.
Another woman, Rodalyn Villaceran of Sitio Pamombongan Brgy. Milibili here, also complained with the Roxas City police that she, too, invested a big amount with Baarde.
A check for 348,000 was issued to her but it also bounced when she had it encashed on Dec 25, 2018.
The two victims sought the help of the police because Baarde could no longer be contacted or located. They are contemplating to file syndicated estafa charges against her.
