BACOLOD City – Two persons, including a minor were killed, while a family of four were injured in a road accident at Barangay 2-A, Manapla, Negros Occidental last Saturday.

Police Lieutenant Leonil Adolacion, deputy police chief of Manapla Municipal Police Station, identified one of the fatalities as motorcycle driver Alex Mahusay, 45, of Barangay Sta. Teresa, and a 17-year-old female passenger of a tricycle.

Adolacion said Mahusay allegedly overtook another motorcycle and failed to control his vehicle that resulted in a collision with the tricycle that was ferrying a family home.

Adolacion said Mahusay was allegedly speeding on his way home from Bacolod where he was working when the accident happened.

Tricycle driver Richard Aguirre, 55, of Barangay 2-A, and his three passengers suffered minor injuries, while Mahusay and the minor were declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

Mahusay fell into a canal that probably caused head injuries, he added.

Adolacion said that only one of the four wounded victims is still confined in a hospital.
