BACOLOD City – A female vendor died after she was allegedly hit by a passenger jeepney then ran over by a wingvan truck along Burgos extension in Barangay Estefania here Tuesday night.
Police Major Reynante Jomocan, head of Police Station 4, identified the fatality as Liza Cagalitan, 42, of the said village.
Jomocan said Cagalitan suddenly crossed the street and was hit by a jeepney driven by 40-year-old Judgen Maconocido of Barangay Handumanan here.
Cagalitan fell to the opposite lane and was run over by a truck loaded with empty liquor bottles driven by Bryan Olasiman, 29, of Cebu.
The truck was on its way to a bottling company here when the accident happened.
Jomocan said the victim was probably crossing the street to go to their store when the incident happened past 7 p.m.
Cagalitan died on the spot due to severe head injuries.
Jomocan said the two drivers were arrested but were released the following day after reaching a settlement with the victim’s family.
