BACOLOD City – Two persons were killed after they were electrocuted at Purok Kalong-Kalong, Diversion road, Barangay Cabahug, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental yesterday.

The victims were identified as truck driver Eddie Dejito, 49, of Barangay Rafaela Barrera, Sagay City, and Ronnie Antojado, 26, of Barangay Balintawak, Escalante City, a helper.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Gil John Despi, Cadiz City police chief, said the victims stopped for a while to check the electrical wire that tangled with the sugarcane loaded on the truck.

But they failed to notice that a portion of the electrical wire from the post was already hanging.

Despi said that when the victims disembarked from the truck to check, they were probably grounded.

The victims were taken to a hospital in Sagay City but were declared dead on arrival.

Despi said the truck may have been overloaded with sugarcane because it hit the electrical wire.

“Indi man na ma sangit ang linya ka kuryente kung indi masyado ka taas ang tubo sa truck,” he added.
